Serving the Neighbourhood

Sequoia is a church that desires to be in their community, whether it be in times of celebration or in response to a crisis. We have been blessed with a team of people who are passionate about following the example of Jesus; to be involved and serve, not only in Barrhaven, but across the region (see A Channel video).  Jesus always met people where they were at, in the midst of their celebrations or difficult circumstances. He saw to their physical needs and through that action ministered to their heart and spiritual needs. Sequoia provides several opportunities for people to serve the community in meaningful ways.  To volunteer or to inquire about a serving opportuntity email Donna Boisvert at donnab@sequoiachurch.org

Sequoia Fun Cruiser
The Sequoia Fun Cruiser has been showing up all over the city for several years at parks, neighbourhood runs, parades, Canada Day celebrations, block parties, Movies in the Park, and other Sequoia events. It is the most popular rolling red convection stand in Barrhaven, serving popcorn, snow cones, cotton candy and fun to our neighbours. It is one of the ways we provide support, encouragement and fun to our region. It allows Sequoia to connect with the community, while being a tangible and practical support to the many partners who keep us coming back year after year.  For more information email

Sequoia Sam
Sequoia Sam is our very own mascot and he can usually be found hanging around the Fun Cruiser at community events. He is Barrhaven’s favourite bear at every event and always enjoys hanging out with the kids. Sam is usually accompanied by some of our youth, who help him to show the love of God to our community.

  Feet to Faith Ministries
Sequoia is passionate about providing practical help in times of crisis, to reach out as Jesus commanded with “a cup of cold water” in His name. This ministry allows the men and women of the church to reach the potential that God desires for their lives, by providing the opportunity to be Christian love in action. Over the past several years this has been accomplished through several means including providing garbage / recycle  clean up at events in the community, offering a quilt to comfort someone who is hurting, blessing a family in need at Christmas, providing meals to someone who is recovering from surgery, offering a calm presence and listening ear, and helping local residents in need with small building projects. Adults, youth and visiting mission teams help to fulfill our desire as a church to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community and the world.
