A New Year of Promise

A New Year Full of Promise

Another year is upon us and as we embark on this journey of 2011 we need to remember the promises that we have in Christ. Psalm 103:1-5 is as true for us today as when it was written three millennia ago.

1 Let all that I am praise the LORD;
with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name.
2 Let all that I am praise the LORD;
may I never forget the good things he does for me.
3 He forgives all my sins
and heals all my diseases.
4 He redeems me from death
and crowns me with love and tender mercies.
5 He fills my life with good things.
My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!

As we worship our Great and Holy God we are blessed with benefit after benefit, which flow from God’s heart of love. God forgives us, heals us, redeems us, crowns us, satisfies us, and renews us in Christ so we can soar like eagles! I would encourage you to listen to last week’s message on Psalm 103 (on our website) again, or for the first time if you missed it, because understanding who we are in Christ establishes the foundation for all that we are and do in this life. This will also set the tone for us as a church as we prepare for an important few weeks ahead and the great adventure of 2011.

January 9th will be our Vision Sunday where I will teach out of Acts 1 as we revisit our purpose as a church to help people Connect to God, Grow with Others, and Serve the World. The following Sunday, January 16th, Pastor Rick will speak on Why Sequoia has a Tree Name, as he explains our goal to plant two Sequoia multi-site congregations this year, French Sequoia in Barrhaven and another English Sequoia in Carleton Place. You won’t want to miss these Sundays!

I am convinced that God wants you, and by extension our church Sequoia, to soar in 2011 like the eagle, so that together we can experience the fullness of God’s grace in everyway that is ours in Christ Jesus. Are you ready to soar?

It’s a joy to be on this journey with you,

Blessings, Pastor Ryan
